Frequently asked questions

At Bloom Counseling Center, we understand you may have questions about telehealth counseling. We've compiled some frequently asked questions to help you understand our approach and the benefits of online therapy.

What are the most common questions people ask you about telehealth counseling?

People often ask about insurance, session costs, privacy and safety, and how to choose the right counselor.

Bloom Counseling Center, Natalie Akhavain, is contracted with Medicare Insurance exclusively.  I do see other clients that don't have Medicare, but they are self-pay per session.

If you are a self-pay client, I can offer you a price range from $80-$120 an hour, based on your situation.

HIPAA-compliant platforms are necessary  for privacy, and the platform that I use is www.helloalma.com

If we choose to work together, we will do so through that online platform. It's really easy to use.

I recommend that you interview 3-4 therapists before you make a decision. You will have a knowing or a gut feeling about who the right person is for you. Trust your intuition!

What assurances can you give someone who's hesitant to try therapy online?

Online therapy offers the convenience of staying in your safe home environment, avoiding traffic and parking stressors. It also allows us to work with clients all over California, not just San Diego.

Do you have a No Show fee?

Yes, I do. When I have allotted an hour of time for a client and they are a no-show, there is a charge of $30.

What makes your approach to telehealth counseling unique compared to other providers?

I maintain a close, personal approach, allowing me to truly get to know each client and tailor our sessions to their individual needs.

I like to think of my practice and approach as a concierge-type practice. I keep my caseloads small so I can really attend to each client in a personal way.

What kind of technology or equipment do clients need to participate in telehealth sessions?

You'll need an email to receive session links and a device (phone, computer, or laptop) to join. Our platform is HIPAA compliant and similar to Zoom, but more secure.
